They said the fillie, Winning Colors couldn't win the Kentucky Derby.....
Trainer Charles Whittingham, and Jim Sneeringer knew better....
Today at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, they said a fillie hasn't won the Belmnont in 102 years!

Well guess what?

Rags to Riches won the 139th running of the Belmont Stakes, and our clients cashed in at 4-1 odds.
The Belmont Stakes did not carry alot of pre race hype this year. Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, who finished second in the Preakness three weeks ago, losing a stretch duel to Curan, was not going to run the mile and a half @ Belmont Park, disapointng the racing public. Thus, the 139th running of the Belmont Stakes lacked fizzle.
Kentucky Oaks winner, Rags to Riches was entered into field to do what many called the "impossible", ~ take on the boys.
At the start, the gates opens and Rags to Riches takes a stumble. She was able to regain herself, and jockey John Velasquez was able to place her in a nice pocket four wide, four lenghts off the pace. One could not help getting flashbacks of when War Emblem had a similar stumble coming out of the gate several years ago, a stumble that cost War Emblem a chance to win the triple crown.
When they turned for home, Rags to Riches made her move, and she was quickly joined by Preakness winner, Curan. The two dueled down the stretch in what will be remembered as a racing epic.
And when Rags to Riches hit the wire first, she became the first fillie in over a century to win
the Belmont Stakes.
